Projects
The Process
Concept Design
RIBA Stages 0 - 2
During the initial stages of a project I begin with the feasibility study to help develop your brief into reality through creative design.
During this stage I will discuss several opportunities with you and constraints or issues and how we can overcome them. Following a site visit and initial meeting I will prepare a series of concept designs for further discussion.
Spatial Coordination - Planning
RIBA Stage 3
Planning, Certificate of Lawfulness and Larger Home Extension Applications
Following your feasibility study and once we have a design layout agreed we would progress to Stage 3 and prepare a Planning application, Certificate of Lawfulness or Larger Home Extension application. During this stage we confirm external materials while developing the concept plan into detailed plans and elevations. The relevant supporting statements and reports will be prepared or appointed (if specialist is required) during this stage to support the application.
I work closely with the planners to ensure a smooth application process with high success rates.
Technical Design - Building Reg’s
RIBA Stage 4
During this stage of the process I focus on the detail. This stage will work in coordination with other consultants, to prepare a comprehensive detailed working construction pack.
This information is required for Tender Pricing purposes, and also for building control submission/approval. While each project is unique, a typical construction pack would include:
Setting Out General Arrangement Plans
Lighting, Heating and Small Power Layouts
Key Sections
Elevations

Clients Reviews
Amy has been brilliant from start to finish. What started with a feasibility study (this is such a great way to begin) has now ended with a full construction pack and we couldn’t be happier. Amy is extremely professional, helpful and experienced. She has been with us every step of the way and given us a lot of time. We will continue to recommend AA Design Associates to anyone who needs an architect - from changing the layout of your existing home to a full on extension. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, Amy.

Amy has been incredible from the very start of our renovation journey. Her knowledge and expertise have been invaluable and she has worked side by side with us, every step of the way. Amy is personable, professional and solution led, providing us with practical options and creative suggestions throughout the process. We would have been lost without her and would use her again, on another project. We would also recommend her to anyone looking for an incredibly skilled and creative female Architect.

We were looking for an Architect that would take time to understand our requirements and what we were looking to achieve with our property. Amy at AA Design was patient and listened carefully before coming up with options which reflected our requests and aims. I would strongly recommend Amy both from a professional and her personal approach.

Amy is an exceptional architect and designer. By the time I called Amy, I’d seen three architects, none of whom understood my vision and how my family needed to function in our space. As soon as I sat down with Amy, I knew that she had got it! She is creative, considered, incredibly professional (yet friendly), talented, efficient and always on time with designs and appointments. She came up with solutions that I could never have thought of and when I wanted to reduce costs (during covid) she worked out how I could. I think she’s brilliant. I would recommend her to everyone and anyone!

We found Amy after a recommendation on a local community board. We were thinking about enlarging the property we'd just bought, and from the first feasibility meeting, Amy really understood what we were looking to do. She came back with 3 drawings, and one of those is more or less what we went on to build. She has great ideas, and is always focused on trying to meet the client's brief. She developed the plans, then helped us with planning permission before project managing the build project with her recommended builder (who was excellent). We have extended and modernised our property and it looks fabulous, and is also extremely practical for a large, multi-generational family. Having worked with architects before, I'm aware how hard it can be to really help a client sort out what they want, and then help them deliver it more or less on time, and to a controlled budget. Amy's fees are very reasonable, especially for the level of support, and the attention to detail she provides. We'd highly recommend Amy - and we have, to neighbours and others. If you're local and want to see her work, do please contact us through her and we'd be delighted to share our experiences.

About
I have always had a passion for design, making the most out of spaces, designing new ones, generating spaces and creating the perfect finished project.
I completed my Architectural Degree and Masters at the University of Edinburgh before moving to London where I gained invaluable experience working across residential, commerial and hotel projects. During this time, I was awarded a number of awards for residential design projects.
I moved into the world of Project Management and along side my full time role studied to secure my APMP qualification from UCL University, London. I worked on prestigeous Hotel and Residential projects in London, Paris and Rome.
A further move, to focus on residential architecture, I found myself working with a developer working my way up to become their Design Director managing projects from site appraisal through to show homes and hand over.
Now, having the wealth of knowledge gained from my past experience, I am in a great position to offer my Architectural and Project Management serives to my own clients.
I am a fully qualified architect and project manager, as well as having extensive experience in interior design too.
I can provide you assistance from start to finish of a project, from obtaining planning, through building control, selecting contractors, placing contracts, sourcing the perfect furnishings and hanging the curtains! I have an extensive contact base of reliable consultants, contractors and suppliers to help provide the best outcome, within budget and on time!
So while I understand that tackling any project, whether it be an extension, refurbishment or preparing a baby’s nursery can be a daunting task, it really doesn’t need to be. With my help, I will guide you through the process and take the stress out of it for you, helping you achieve your goal in a practical, affordable and manageable way!
